There is nothing ordinary about what I create. Straight down to the sponge cake recipes inside my cakes. Not Your Ordinary Cakes are created differently then most sponge cakes. Even the red velvet is dense, moist and doesn't crumble when the fork touches it like a standard red velvet would.
Flavors are not listed because there are so

Flavors are not listed because there are so many I tend to overwhelm my clients. Custom is my specialty.
We cannot make a tres leches cake into a tiered wedding cake or sculpted grooms cake.

Owner and Lead Cakeologist - Jessica Ewald.
Meet Jessica — the Cakeologist, edible‑art alchemist, and resident “how‑is‑that-even-a-cake?” sorceress behind Not Your Ordinary Cakes. She doesn’t just bake cakes; she sculpts sugar with attitude and builds desserts that come with their own gravitational pull.
Direct? Absolutely.
Sarcastic? Only when necessary (which is often).
Sweet? Only in flavor — never in boundaries.
Quirky, intuitive, generous, empathic, and just the right amount of chaos? Always.
Jessica’s superpower is turning butter, sugar, and a dash of neurodivergent brilliance into jaw‑dropping edible art. As a neurodivergent mom of three neurodivergent boys, she’s mastered multitasking, problem‑solving, and creative thinking on a level most superheroes would envy. (Yes, autism/ADHD is a superpower. No cape required.)
She’s also married to a civil/structural engineer — which is perfect, because when your cake ideas defy physics, it helps to have someone who can literally build the support system. Together, they geek out over cake architecture like other couples binge TV shows.
Jessica started creating cake art in 2009 and officially launched Not Your Ordinary Cakes in 2014. It took two years to perfect her recipes and a lifetime to perfect her craft — a journey she’s still on, because true artistry never stops evolving.
Her mission is simple: brighten someone’s day, one show‑stopping cake at a time.
Her medium just happens to be sugar, flour, and a wildly overactive imagination.
When she’s not sculpting cakes for clients, she pours her heart into Icing Smiles.org, using her talent to bring joy to families who need it most.
Luxury taste. Playful spirit. Edgy creativity.
That’s Jessica — your Cakeologist, your edible‑art architect, and your partner in creating a celebration that rises above the ordinary.

At Not Your Ordinary Cakes, we don’t just bake cakes — we evolve them. Ordinary cake ideas walk in… and extraordinary, head‑turning, “wait, that’s CAKE?” creations walk out. This is edible art with attitude, crafted for people who refuse to settle for basic.
Every sculpted masterpiece begins with Jessica’s signature sponge cake recipe — soft, flavorful, and engineered (yes, engineered) to hold its own under layers of imagination. Each tier is stacked with silky Swiss meringue buttercream, filled with optional fruit or custard, and sealed in a luxurious coat of ganache that makes your tastebuds sign a non‑disclosure agreement. Flavor this good should be illegal.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, groom’s cake, hyper‑realistic showpiece, themed celebration, character cake, anniversary surprise, or a corporate event that needs to impress more than 4… or 4,000… we’ve got you covered. If it needs to wow, we’re your people.
And because we take our sculpted art seriously, you won’t find American buttercream, royal icing, or whipped frosting anywhere near our kitchen. They simply can’t handle the structural drama our cakes demand. We build tall, we carve big, and we sculpt boldly — and that requires ingredients with backbone.
This is cake that stands tall, tastes incredible, and steals the spotlight every single time.
Not Your Ordinary Cakes — because your celebration deserves edible art, not edible afterthoughts.
